Insurance/Reinsurance
Our insurance team comprises corporate and litigation lawyers who specialise in handling large and complex insurance matters.

Our clients represent the full spectrum of the industry, and include major insurance companies, Lloyd's syndicates, reinsurers, mutuals, brokers, underwriting agents and P&I Club managers, as well as corporate policyholders and financial, investment and professional services providers.

We advise insurance professionals throughout the European Union and in North America, Bermuda, Hong Kong and other major international insurance locations. Much of our work has an international content and we work on a regular basis with other professionals in major overseas insurance jurisdictions.

Our focus on insurance, and the particular issues affecting it, enables us to provide a service honed to the needs of the industry and alive to the special risks and requirements of the market in relation to complex matters.

Our philosophy is to work alongside clients as active, innovative members of the team. Our involvement over the years in a number of large and high-profile transactions and disputes has equipped us with considerable experience in managing important and complex matters, while enabling us to deal with medium–sized and smaller matters with a high level of efficiency.

"My first seat was in insurance litigation and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the work. I spent most of my time working on one large matter, a dispute concerning a number of high value reinsurance contracts. Having known very little about insurance, and even less about reinsurance, before starting in this seat, it was good being able to really get to grips with the technical details of the case. The only people working on the case from our end were my supervisor and me and this meant I was exposed to more responsibility earlier on. There were times where I was expected to do the work of a junior associate and I think this helped add to the learning experience."
